Essentially if ur t levels are low donβt buy one.. got it
Iβve been fishing my entire life, and kayak fishing is the best way Iβve found. I catch fish every single time I go out, something I never could say from the surf. If you hook into a big fish, the fight is amazing, you will literally get towed. And if itβs that windy, Iβll throw my waders on and hit the white water.
I am a few months late to the party so I apologize if my comment seems to also be out of time sync. I am on my 3rd fishing specific kayak in the past ten years. I have learned what works for me (stability and light weight) and what doesn’t work for me (peddle drive and heavy big-boy shells). At 72 years old and as a solo fisherman I am forced to face my limitations.
Wisdom in your words about practicing self-recovery by practicing righting your kayak and getting back aboard. I capsized on a lake with 50* water 3 days ago (air temp was 25* at launch). My kayak had taken on ~ 8 gallons of water into the inner hull over 6 hours of fishing without my knowledge (I was test driving it prior to purchase). I could not roll it back over because of the water weight in the hull. I had to drag the da*n thing about 100 yards back to the shore doggy paddle style. I lost some equipment (all replaceable, much to my wife’s chagrin); BUT, I lived to tell the tale.
These are the adventures of a careful, senior kayak angler.
